Design Ideas

For the second set of gift wrapping I want to take on a completely different look, I really want this to be highly influenced around illustration so I have started by just looking at a few layouts and how I can combine the illustrations with the type. I also want to get a completely different feel from this second set, the first brought a very romantic and traditional feel to the same sex marriage gift wrap, I want this second set to focus on a modern take on love, without it looking or having a 'joke' feel to it.

I want to use as little type as possible, but I know some sort of type will be needed so the cards are understandable as some I have seen or even developed myself are not clear enough to represent same sex marriages. The first I have developed is pictured below I used two illustrations which I feel represents the weddings for both males and females, I have simply used the & symbol rather than the inclusion of Mr or Mrs, this really doesn't work as well as I had hopped, although I do like how the illustrations work.

I really like the use of just one illustration and type enlarged placed below it. The combination works much better than the first, obviously its a little plain so I need to experiment with the application of colour, but the textured background works really well rather that a flat white.

Before I move on I wanted to see how the above design worked with two illustrations to represent the to persons getting married. This works really well with the female card but i'm not sure with the male, I think this is perhaps due to the illustrations, I think I need to look at experimenting with different images before I make any decisions, I also much prefer the type under the illustrations than above, it fits much better than placed above.
