Wallpaper coatings

Wallpaper for the bathroom and kitchen needs a special coating as it will be in a constant moist environment. The coatings give protection for a reasonable level of moisture, they offer protection against grubby fingers and general soiling, so it is possible for the wallpaper to be wiped down with a damp cloth. PVC coated papers or vinyls are also commonly used in the bathroom or kitchen as the soft flexible top coating are hard wearing due to the weight and strength of the PVC. More recently a new type of wallpaper has been developed which offers antibacterial protection with the aim to provide protection against germs such as MRSA, E.coli, Listeria and Salmonella. This again is achieved by adding a coating to the surface of the paper.
