Design Direction

I wanted to move on for all my initial ideas and start designing something for one of the wedding sets. After looking at the illustrations and current material on the market I have decided I want to aim my first set of products towards the romantic and love side of marriage, as much as I can and steer away from the funny and joke themes most cad shops are selling. To do this I have decided to use type, this will help send a direct message that these are mixed sex marriage products and I will use print finishes and stock to capture the romanticism of marriage.

As I mentioned this set will predominantly use type, I have started this by laying out type across what would be wrapping paper, to see how well the different quotes fit together and flow with the different type faces. This first example I have posted below, uses quite a hand illustrated look with the swirls and curves adding a delicate and loving nature to the type. I really like the idea of using this style of type, however I don't think it works very well fitting together across the page, they don't weave in and out of one another they just look jumbled, I think perhaps the best thing would be to develop further with different type faces with a similar nature.

This second style is completely different, it uses a very traditional type face, I purposely chose two contrasting type faces to see the difference and which works best, rather than experimenting with millions of different ones and then narrowing it down. I did originally prefer this type face when it was stood by its self, however seeing it working along side lots of them it doesn't work as well, or even capture the romantic nature I want from this first design set.
