Different types of tyres

As well as looking at the history of tyres and the different parts of tyres, I thought it essential for me to look at the different types of tyres and what they are used for to see if there was an possibility of use for them in this brief as I had only really thought about using bike and car tyres. Although some of these have amazing tyre treads almost all of them would be impossible for me to use based on my own rubbings and photographs and I do prefer to work from all of my own images.

Aircraft tyres - designed to withstand very heavy loads for short duration's.

Racing Tyres - these are highly specialised for race tracks.

Agricultural - these are used for farm vehicles such as tractors or harvesters.

Off the road - these tyres are used for construction.

Heavy duty truck tyre - these are used on lorries and busses
