Esio Trot book covers

I found this cover really difficult to layout, without the cover looking too empty as I mentioned was the case on a previous post for some of my book covers, but this is due to either the title of the object I have chosen to illustrate within. This book cover I chose a tortoise there wasn't really any other object I could use to help illustrate the books content on the cover.

This first cover has my favourite colour scheme the colour combination works really well together and are related to the content, although they are green I do still that it would still attract both boys and girls. Looking back at all 3 this is probably the most successful layout, even though its quite empty, however I want to look at this cover working with the rest of the books before I make any decisions, its quite difficult as this cover has one of the most awkward shapes and type.

I tried to enlarge the image and type as much as I could without it looking out of place, but to do this I had to adjust the positioning of it, however now it looks like its climbing up a hill and looks completely wrong. The colours work well and I really like the stone grey for the background, this is definitely a colour I may consider using if the above colour scheme is too similar to another cover.

As this was a difficult shape to work with, I also experimented with a second possible layout, to see if this worked better, although this covers a larger area of the book which is better, it overall looks like a squished tortoise, which isn't the look I want. This has probably been the hardest colour to illustrate up this point so I am not going to make any decisions until I see how the covers work in relation to the group of books.
