How Letterpress works

Printing with 'moveable type' became popular thanks to Johannes Gutenberg of Mains on the Rhine between 1440 and 1450, this is considered one of the most important events in cultural history. The ancient craft is inherently tactile and beautiful, thanks to the nature of the letter press allowing each print to be subtly different, no two prints are exactly the same. The letter press leaves a 'bite' of the raised type behind, leaving a finely embossed impression on the stock.
